Now in its 6th year, the Collegiate Effie Awards serve to
recognize, inspire, educate, and engage the marketers
of tomorrow. Modeled after the North American Effie
Awards competition, the Collegiate Effie Awards provide
students across the United States with the opportunity to
research, ideate, and execute comprehensive marketing
communication plans that address professional-level
marketing challenges.
Qualifying entries are judged by experienced marketing
and advertising professionals of various disciplines. In
addition to scoring entries, judges offer constructive
feedback to entrants in order to help students learn from
the process.
We are honored to work with Target, an Effie-winning brand,
to engage students around the creation of effective
marketing communications. The support of Target and their
agency partner, Deutsch, made the 2015 Brand Challenge
the most popular competition in Collegiate Effie history.
THE 2015 CHALLENGE:
TARGET’S “BACK-TO-COLLEGE” BRAND CHALLENGE
This year’s Brand Challenge gave students the opportunity
to engage with iconic retailer Target. Students were tasked
with developing an integrated, multi-channel marketing
communications campaign designed to engage back-to-college millennials, ages 18-24, with the Target Brand.
After several rounds of online and an in-person judging
session, submissions were narrowed down to a group of ten
semi-finalists. After a rigorous assessment by the Target, two
finalist teams were selected:
“Target University”
Brigham Young University - BYU AdLab
Natalie Daelemans - Account Planner, Strategist
Broderick Danielson - Copywriter, Sound Editor
Kyle Lewis - Art Director, Researcher
“Roommate MashUp”
Ringling College of Art + Design
James Armas - Creative
Anastasia Belomyltseva - Copy, Creative
Last month, these finalist teams traveled to Target’s
Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, to present their work
to senior members of Target’s marketing team. Target
generously awarded finalists with Target gift cards, and
Collegiate Effie will provide a certificate of achievement
to celebrate their success.
