Letter from the Chairman
In just a few days from now, eyes of the world will focus on
South Africa and the 32 teams competing on the world’s
biggest stage, the World Cup of Football. This global forum
provides participating nations an opportunity to showcase
their strategy, planning, talent and, of course, teamwork
on the pitch.
Effie, much like the World Cup, is a global showcase of the
world’s best teams.
We honor effective marketing communications programs
and the teams behind them in more than 40 programs
worldwide.
In 2010, the Global Effie Awards received entries from
every corner of the globe. Entries were evaluated by
international juries in London, Mexico City, New York City
and Singapore. This year’s three winners feature work that
ran in Argentina, Australia and China, among many other
global markets.
continues to keep pace with the ever-changing industry. In
2010, we introduced two new Media Categories to reflect
the ever-increasing importance of the use of media in
driving effectiveness: Single Media Company Activation
and Media Innovation. The former honors advertisers and
media partners that knew exactly where and how to
connect with their target via the assets of a single media
company. The latter showcases those that had the insight
and creativity to change the way a particular media
channel is consumed.
Whether expanding our global footprint or adapting the
competition model to keep up with industry trends, Effie
looks forward to leading the global discussion on marketing
effectiveness in 2011.
But first we gather to celebrate this year’s winners and all
of our winning teams across the globe on a job well done.
