Letter from the Chairman
Wow!
What a time for marketers.
In recent years all of us have had to navigate the shifting
marketing sands. These include the enormous changes in
the media landscape and the fundamental impact of
technology on how consumers interact with our brands
and businesses. These changes have caused us all to
consider each and every aspect of our marketing
programs to identify what needs to change and what
needs to remain the same.
This presents both opportunities and threats – but
whatever else it is, it’s dynamic.

The Effies have always been, and will always be, about
effectiveness. Whatever else changes and goes in and

and disciplined strategy will always be the key to success.

entry requirements keep pace with the modern world.

all entries to include advertising as part of the mix…that’s
why there is recognition with the Media Effie that in some

cases media strategy drives the overall solution…and
that’s why we have introduced a new category this
year – Brand Experience – reflecting the reality that
everything communicates.
Furthermore, as the task of marketing gets more complex,
our juries are getting both more senior and more diverse
in their makeup.
Consequently winning will be more difficult and winning
will be more valuable.
